Ask about a maintenance plan

In short

Pihlfelt offers maintenance and support plans for WordPress and WooCommerce websites. The plan covers updates of WordPress, plugins and themes, vulnerability monitoring, uptime and error monitoring, backups, performance, troubleshooting and minor changes – for a fixed monthly fee based on an agreed pool of hours. No tiers or packages: the setup is adapted to the site. Based in Kalmar, Sweden; clients across Sweden and abroad.

What we keep an eye on

Everything that keeps a WordPress site working.

A WordPress site is never finished. Plugins get updated, PHP versions reach end of life, themes stop being maintained and new vulnerabilities are published every week. These are the areas we take responsibility for in a maintenance plan.

01

Updates

  • WordPress core, every plugin and theme – updated continuously, not once a year.
  • Major updates are tested on a copy of the site before they go live, so nothing breaks in production.
  • PHP version and server settings kept current together with your host.
  • Plugins that are no longer maintained are replaced before they become a security risk.
02

Security

  • Monitoring of known vulnerabilities in exactly the plugins and themes installed on your site.
  • Login protection, firewall and hardened settings.
  • Regular scanning for malware and unexpected file changes.
  • Removal of unused plugins, themes and accounts that only widen the attack surface.
03

Monitoring

  • Uptime around the clock – we get alerted if the site goes down, often before you or your visitors notice.
  • PHP errors, warnings and broken functionality in the logs.
  • SSL certificate, domain and DNS so nothing expires unnoticed.
  • Forms, broken links and pages that suddenly respond with errors.
04

Backups

  • Automatic backups on a schedule that matches how often the site changes.
  • An extra backup before every update, so we can always roll back.
  • Restores are tested – a backup that has never been tried is not a backup.
05

Performance

  • Load times and Core Web Vitals tracked over time, not just at launch.
  • Caching, image optimisation and database cleanup when the site starts to feel slow.
  • Recommendations when hosting or the theme is the bottleneck.
06

WooCommerce

  • Checkout, payments and shipping calculation verified after every update – that is where errors cost the most.
  • WooCommerce updates with database migrations run in a controlled way.
  • Payment, shipping and ERP integrations monitored so orders never get stuck.
  • Template overrides in the theme kept compatible with new WooCommerce versions.
07

Errors and incidents

  • Conflicting plugins, a white screen after an update, a form that stopped sending – fixed within the plan.
  • In case of a breach: the site is secured, cleaned and restored, and the cause is closed.
  • Debugging of bugs in the theme and custom code.
08

Minor changes and questions

  • Text changes, image swaps, new pages from existing templates and similar ongoing requests within the pool of hours.
  • A developer to ask when you wonder about a plugin, a feature or an offer you have received.
09

Reporting

  • A short monthly report: what was updated, what was found and fixed, and what we recommend next.
  • No reports for the sake of reporting – you should be able to read it in two minutes.

Proactive, not a hotline

The goal is that you never have to call.

A maintenance plan with us is not a support line you call when something has broken. It is the opposite: the monitoring and the continuous updates mean we detect and fix most things before they become a ticket. You read about it in the monthly report. And when something does come up on your end – a customer who cannot pay, a page that looks wrong – you have a direct channel to the people who already know the site, with faster replies than for work without a plan.

How the plan works

A pool of hours, a fixed monthly fee, no packages.

We do not sell ready-made tiers called Basic and Premium. Every site is different, so we decide together how many hours per month are reasonable – and that becomes your fixed fee.

01

Site review

We start with a technical health check: versions, plugins, security, backups, performance and whatever has been custom built. You get a list of what needs doing right away and what can wait.

02

We agree on a pool of hours

A smaller company site is often fine with a few hours a month: updates, monitoring, backups and small fixes fit in there. A WooCommerce store with integrations, campaigns and many plugins needs a larger pool, which also covers performance, checkout verification and ongoing improvements. The pool can be adjusted when your needs change.

03

Ongoing work

Updates, monitoring and security run on a schedule. Whatever comes up in between we handle within the pool, and you get an email when something significant has happened. How unused hours are handled and how work beyond the pool is priced is written into the agreement, so there are no surprises.

04

Monthly report and check-in

Every month you get a short report. A couple of times a year we look at whether the pool is still right and whether there are improvements worth making.

Who it is for

For anyone with a site they do not want to think about.

Companies with their own WordPress site

You have no internal IT department and do not want the website to be somebody's side job. We take the responsibility.

WooCommerce store owners

Every hour the checkout is down costs money. Monitoring the payment flow and controlled updates are the core of the plan.

Sites built by someone else

The agency that built the site is gone, or no longer replies. We take over, review the code and make it maintainable.

Agencies

You want to offer your clients maintenance under your own name without building an operations team. We deliver white-label, just like for development work.

What is not included

For the sake of clarity.

  • Hosting is not included – the plan works with the host you already have. If hosting is the problem we will say so, and help you move.
  • New content, copy and photography we do not write or produce – but we are happy to put in what you deliver.
  • Larger new development, redesigns or new integrations are quoted separately so the pool of hours covers what it is meant for.

Questions & answers

Frequently Asked Questions

The ongoing work that keeps the site updated, secure and online: • Updates of WordPress, plugins and themes, with major updates tested before going live. • Vulnerability monitoring of installed plugins, login protection and malware scanning. • Monitoring of uptime, log errors, SSL and domain. • Backups with tested restores. • Performance, troubleshooting and incidents. • Minor changes within the pool of hours and a short monthly report. For WooCommerce stores, checkout, payments and integrations are also verified after every update.
It depends on the site. We do not sell ready-made packages; instead we agree on a pool of hours per month, which becomes a fixed monthly fee. A smaller company site is often fine with a few hours a month. A WooCommerce store with integrations and many plugins needs more. After a first review of the site you get a concrete proposal, with no commitment.
The pool of hours is the number of hours per month the plan covers. Scheduled work – updates, monitoring, security, backups – always fits within the pool. Whatever comes up in between, such as a conflicting plugin or a text change you want made, is taken from it as well. How unused hours are handled and how larger work beyond the pool is priced is written into the agreement. The pool can be adjusted when your needs change.
No. Most sites we maintain were built by someone else – an agency that no longer exists, a freelancer who moved on, or yourselves. We always start with a technical review. If the site is in poor shape you get a remediation list first, so the plan is about maintenance and not about putting out fires.
The monitoring alerts us if the site goes down or files change unexpectedly, often before you notice anything. We secure the site, clean it, restore from a clean backup if needed and close the cause. The point of the preventive work – updates, vulnerability monitoring, login protection – is that it should not need to happen.
Security updates as soon as they are released. Other updates continuously, normally every week or two depending on the site. Major version jumps – WordPress, WooCommerce, PHP – are tested on a copy of the site first. An extra backup is always taken before updates, so we can roll back if something still goes wrong.
No, the plan works with the host you already have. If hosting is the cause of performance or stability problems we will say so and help you move.
In a store, errors cost money immediately. That is why checkout, payments and shipping calculation are verified after every update, WooCommerce updates with database migrations are run in a controlled way, and integrations with payment, shipping and ERP systems are monitored so orders never get stuck. Template overrides in the theme are kept compatible with new WooCommerce versions, the most common reason a store breaks on update.
Yes. Many agencies want to offer maintenance to their clients without building an operations team. We then deliver under the agency's name, just like for development work: you own the client relationship, we handle the technology and report to you.
Term and notice period are agreed in the contract. We prefer rolling agreements that continue as long as both sides are happy – that is a better incentive for us to do a good job than a long lock-in.
