What the scan does
The scan walks your entire media library in the background and tags every image: missing alt text? Dimensions above your maximum? File heavier than your threshold? WebP version available? The result drives the filter tabs in the image list and the tasks on the Dashboard.
The statuses
- Unreviewed — a new image nobody has looked at yet.
- Reviewed — you marked it as done.
- Optimized — scaling or compression has run.
- Ignored — excluded from the workflow (e.g. decorative images).
- Failed — the last action went wrong; see Jobs & Logs.
The scan never overwrites statuses you set yourself.
When should I rescan?
New uploads are tagged automatically, so rescanning is rarely needed. Run it when you have changed the maximum dimensions in the settings (the "oversized" flag is recalculated at scan time) or after big changes outside the plugin, such as an import.
